Dr Abhay Pashilkar, Program Director of Civil Aircraft, at National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore delivered an online talk titled, “Leveraging Saras Mk 1 flight tests to Design the Mk 2” on 26 Sep 2021 at 2030h IST.

The chapter thanks all the participants from India and abroad who actively participated and posted valuable questions and suggestions.

The abstract of the talk is as follows:

The Saras Mk 2 is being designed as a 19-seater pressurized aircraft to meet India specific requirements for civilian use under the  UDAN scheme. At the same time the Indian Airforce which is the launch customer, is planning to use it as a multi role aircraft for casevac, troop carrying and VIP role. In this talk the speaker will discuss how the flight test data analysis of the pusher variant (Mk 1) has given CSIR-NAL insights into the design of the tractor variant (Mk 2) for the critical requirement of short field performance. The technical aspects related to requirements capture, design of the flight test and application of parameter estimation principles will be highlighted.
